General Meeting: Building Process Driven Applications leveraging SharePoint

We are all faced with the challenge of producing more MOSS based solutions faster. Despite the true intent and significant efforts to achieve wide spread process automation across the organisation, most organisations struggle to achieve this goal due to a fundamental under estimation of the real life complexities surrounding the average business process. K2 has created a platform that significantly speeds up the creation of maintainable process driven applications in, and around MOSS.

Some of the areas that will be discussed and where K2 is adding value in the context of MOSS related business process automation are:

  • Architectural flexibility for scale-up and scale-out scenarios.
  • Cross site and farm wide solution scenarios.
  • Graphical process solution design experience.
  • Effective deployment between Development, Test and Production environments.
  • Task list consolidation and multi channel access to task items.
  • Centralized tracking and reporting.
  • Escalation, delegation and Out-of-Office scenarios and the related impact of working hours, public holidays and time zones.
  • Role and group based design and execution.
  • Task allocation logic.(e.g. round robin, skills, cost or location based task allocation scenarios)
  • Bi-Directional interaction between multiple business processes.
  • Reuse of solution components.
  • Parallel, serial, rework and voting scenarios.
  • Runtime Process Management (e.g. how will we know when a process is in error state and how do we get it running again)
  • Version management. (e.g. How do we let 2 different versions of the same process driven application co-exist in the same runtime environment while maintaining the correlation across all solution components that may include multiple versions of process definitions, InfoPath forms and other solution elements)

This session will be conducted in the form of a workshop style presentation and demo to work with attendees in building out a business process driven application using K2 blackpoint, MOSS and InfoPath.
