One of the social features added in SharePoint 2010 is the social activity feed. The activity feed shows user profile updates, tagging and notes activities. These out-of-the-box activities can be extended by adding custom activities and provides an opportunity to integrate line of business applications or external information systems with your existing social stream within SharePoint. This session is intended for developers and shows how to develop a custom gatherer for external sources and how to provision new SharePoint activity applications. The demo covers integrating external hosted employee blogs into the corporate intranet by extending the activity feed with blog post abstracts.
